What’s open on Boxing Day: For those who didn’t think ahead

– Most grocery stores are open Boxing Day.

Shopping centres in Ontario are open Boxing Day.

– SAQ stores in Quebec are open Boxing Day at 1 p.m.

CLOSED

– Federal government offices are closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1.

Ottawa City Hall and all six Client Service Centres will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. Business will resume as usual on Jan. 2. Client service representatives are available to answer emergency inquiries only by calling 3-1-1 (TTY 613-580-2401).

– The City’s Provincial Offences Court, 100 Constellation Cres., is closed on Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1. Business will resume as usual on Jan. 2.

– Recreation facilities are closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Recreation facilities will be operating on a modified schedule during the holiday break. For hours of operation, contact the facility directly or visit Ottawa.ca .

– Banks are closed Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.

– There will be no regular collection or delivery of mail on Dec. 25, 26 or Jan. 1, as Canada Post offices are closed. Postal outlets operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

– All Ottawa Public Library branches closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1. Some branches will be open Dec. 24 and 31. Call 613-580-2940.

– LCBO and Beer Stores in Ontario are closed Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. SAQ stores in Quebec are closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1-2.

– Malls are closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 in Ontario and Quebec. In Quebec, malls are also closed Jan. 2.

– Grocery stores are closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Canada Agriculture Museum is closed throughout the holiday week

– No collection of garbage and recycling Dec. 25 or Jan 1. Collection will be delayed by one day for the weeks of Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. There will be normal collection on Dec. 24 and 31.

– Christmas trees will be collected on your regular garbage collection day the weeks of Jan. 7 and 14. Please remove all tinsel and decorations.

OC Transpo service will operate on a reduced schedule from Dec. 23 to Jan. 5. Route 117 will not operate. Phone 741-4390 or visit octranspo.com .

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1: Reduced Sunday service for buses. No O-Train.

Dec. 26: Sunday schedule.

Dec. 24, 27, 28, 31 and Jan 2-4: service will operate on a reduced weekday schedule. Normal service is offered on Dec. 29-30.

Bus service will be free Dec. 31 after 11 p.m. and there will be extended service until after 4 a.m. on routes 95, 96, 97.

Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO): Special service with additional trips at noon on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. Free bus service — Sunday schedule on Dec 25 and Jan. 1 between noon and 7 p.m. Sunday schedule on Dec. 26. Special service will run on Dec. 27, 28 and Jan. 2.
