Amy Winehouse’s dad, Mitch, is surely in denial, if you judge from this report from People.com
After saying goodbye at her funeral, Amy Winehouse‘s father took comfort in believing she had conquered most of her demons.
“Knowing she wasn’t depressed, knowing she passed away, knowing she passed away happy – it makes us all feel better,” Mitch Winehouse said Tuesday in a statement. “She was the happiest she has been for years.”
Winehouse describes his daughter, who was found dead at 27 in her London apartment Saturday, as in love, over drugs and “in good spirits.”
Okay, sooooo.
The media reports that Mitch Winehouse also blamed Amy’s death on her plan to stop drinking.
It was withdrawl that killed the girl, not her boozing.
So it must be true what Amy said about her dad in her song, Rehab:
I can’t find the time, and my daddy thinks I’m fine.”
That’s gotta hurt.
